There are literally thousands of reputatble summer programs for students both in the US and abroad. This list is not meant to be definitive in any sense of the word. By compiling a short list of popular and respected programs we hope that students and parents are able to at least get a start on what may be available in certain fields. Please note that although we have tried to categorize programs, there is often overlap among them. For example, many programs we categorize as "College" or "School" based summer programs offer music, foreign language, math and/or drama programs, so if you do not find what you want under a certain category, look around and see if you can find it somewhere else.
Other Resources: An excellent source for locating specific programs is Peterson's Summer Program for Kids and Teenagers. We have a copy in the College Guidance Office, or you can find it online at www.petersons.com/summerop/code/ssector.asp. Also, the town of Greenwich puts out a comprehensive guide to summer programs offered by the community: Summer Resource Guide for Children in Greenwich, www.greenwichlibrary.org/CA/CampGuide2009.pdf.
Application Deadlines: Keep in mind that many programs fill up early, so pay attention to application deadlines.
Tuition/Scholarships: Unfortunately, some programs are very expensive. If you would like to apply for scholarships, PLEASE apply very early because if a program has scholarship money available, it goes quickly. Programs run by states tend to be less expensive and in some cases, a program may be underwritten by a foundation. You need to research the program websites to find this out.
Our site is organized in the following manner:
For the time, this list focuses on programs available to Upper School (or rising Upper School) girls.
Programs are organized into eight different categories listed on the left of this page.
All enteries are listed alphabetically.
Age eligibility and location are given.
A brief description of the program is listed where appropriate
A link to the website is provided
We hope that you find this new site helpful and we welcome any comments or suggestions you may have. Also, if any student would like to write a brief review of her experience with any of the programs, we welcome it. Our intention is to add a link to CSH student reviews to this website. Communications can be emailed to: Mary Sykes, Director of College Counseling (sykesm@cshgreenwich.org )
