ACT Testing

The ACT

The ACT is an alternate to the SAT.  Many colleges will permit students to submit the ACT with the optional writing section in lieu of the SAT and SAT: Subject Tests.

The multiple choice test covers four basic skill areas: English, mathematics, reading and science.  The optional writing test should always be taken.

The College Guidance team does not advise taking the ACT unless students have prepared sufficiently.  If you believe that the ACT is an option for you, please come speak with your counselor about methods of preparation.  The same amount of time is needed to prepare for the ACT as is needed for the SAT, so plan accordingly.
